Traffic restrictions imposed in Navi Mumbai between Wednesday-Friday (14-16 January) due to NMMC Elections 2026

As per reports, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police have imposed temporary traffic restrictions in parts of Vashi from Wednesday to Friday (14-16 January) between 0600 hours (local time) and 2100 hours (local time) in view of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) election process, including distribution of polling material, voting, and counting of votes.

The details are as follows:

• Strong rooms for Wards 16, 17, and 18 have been established at the NMMC Swimming Pool Building, Sector 12, Vashi.
• Polling material distribution is scheduled for Wednesday (14 January), voting on Thursday (15 January), and vote counting on Friday (16 January).
• Three polling booths have also been set up at the same premises, resulting in increased movement of election officials, candidates, supporters, and vehicles carrying sensitive election material.
• Vehicular movement from Kopar Khairane towards Vashi Railway Station will be prohibited between Blue Diamond Junction and Bassien Catholic Bank Junction.
• Vehicular movement from Vashi Railway Station towards Kopar Khairane will be restricted between Catholic Bank Junction and Perfect Ceramic-IDBI Bank Junction.
• Vehicles travelling from Kopar Khairane to Vashi Railway Station are advised to use Kopri Signal and Palm Beach Road as an alternate route.
• Vehicles travelling from Vashi Railway Station towards Kopar Khairane should take a left turn at Gavdevi Temple, proceed via the Juhugaon creek-side internal road in Sector 12, and continue through IDBI Bank Junction.
• The restrictions will not apply to police vehicles, fire brigade units, ambulances, government vehicles, vehicles requisitioned for election duty, and other essential service vehicles.
