As per reports, a magnitude 5.1 earthquake was recorded near Morigaon, Assam, on Monday (05 January) at around 0417 hours (local time).

• The National Center for Seismology reported that the epicentre was located near Morigaon at an estimated depth of 50 kilometers, with coordinates at 26.37 degrees north latitude and 92.29 degrees east longitude.
• The tremor was likely felt across parts of central Assam, including Dhing, Nagaon, and Dhekiajuli, with reports of light shaking in areas close to the epicentre. No immediate reports of major damage or casualties were available at the time of reporting.
