As per reports, following are the latest updates on the security situation in Dhaka as of Saturday (15 November):
• The Awami League has doubled down on its protest programme, announcing that it will continue its stir demanding the resignation of interim leader Muhammad Yunus.
• Accordingly, the Awami League announced nationwide protests, demonstrations, and resistance programmes on Saturday (15 November), and a total nationwide shutdown on Sunday and Monday (16-17 November).
• The Attorney General of Bangladesh has warned that any activity or protest in the name of the Awami League, which he referred to as a “banned entity,” will be considered illegal.
• In the Barishal Division, unidentified miscreants set ablaze the July Memorial, near Pirojpur Central Shaheed Minar in Pirojpur District in the early hours of Saturday (15 November). Police are investigating in the incident, but at present, it is unconfirmed if it was linked to the Awami League’s protest.
