As per reports, Deutsche Bahn is scheduled to close Cologne Central Station (Köln Hbf) to long-distance and regional train services for ten days, beginning Friday (14 November) at 2100 hours local time (2000 hours UTC) until 24 November.

• The closure was originally scheduled to support major construction and modernization work, including the installation of a new signal box.
• However, shortly before commissioning, technical errors were identified in the signal box software, preventing the planned system upgrade from moving forward.
• As a result, the closure remains in place, but the primary objective of integrating the new digital control system cannot be completed during this period.
• During the closure, no long-distance or regional trains are expected to enter the central station.
• Instead, disrupted services are expected to be diverted to stations outside the city center, primarily Köln-Ehrenfeld and Köln Messe/Deutz.
• Construction teams will use the closure period to carry out other essential infrastructure tasks, including work on switches, track components, and overhead lines.
