As per reports, on Thursday (06 November), the CISL Lecce labor union has reportedly scheduled a peace demonstration in Alessano (Province of Lecce, Apulia, Italy) as part of the national ‘Marathon for Peace’ initiative.
• The event, held in collaboration with the Municipality of Alessano, the Don Tonino Bello Foundation, and local schools, aims to promote a message of peace, solidarity, and rejection of all forms of conflict and human rights violations.
• The event is expected to be held to honor the legacy of Don Tonino Bello, a well-known bishop and advocate for peace, who was born and buried in Alessano.
• The program is scheduled to begins at 0930 hours local time (0830 hours UTC) with a symbolic peace march from Don Tonino Bello’s birthplace to his tomb, representing the spiritual and civic journey of commitment to peace.
• Official greeting are expected to be followed at 1030 hours local time (0930 hours UTC) delivered by the Mayor of Alessano, Osvaldo Stendardo, and local school principals Salvatora Accogli, AnnaLena Manca, and Chiara Florinda Vantaggiato.
• The main address at 1130 hours local time (1030 hours UTC) is expected to be a testimony from Don Salvatore Leopizzi of “Pax Christi,” who will share his experiences working with Don Tonino Bello.
