Salamanca farmers to participate in Mexico’s National Agricultural Strike on Tuesday (14 October)

As per reports, peasant leaders from Salamanca, Guanajuato, confirmed participation in the National Agricultural Strike, scheduled for Tuesday, (14 October).

• The action is being organized by the National Front for the Rescue of the Mexican Countryside, which seeks to draw attention to challenges affecting the agricultural sector, including low grain prices and lack of financial access.
• Farmers are demanding that basic grains be removed from the T-MEC (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement), the creation of a development bank to support small farmers, and the establishment of fair prices for key crops such as sorghum and corn.
• Participants are expected to gather outside Home Depot in Salamanca at 1000 hours local time (1500 hours UTC) before marching through nearby roads to raise public awareness.
