The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts in the following metro cities, as of Monday (29 September) :
• Mumbai and Pune – An orange alert for very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds has been issued in the forecast for Mumbai, while Pune remains under an orange alert for thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds. No warnings have been issued in the nowcast for Pune, while a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall is active for Mumbai till 0700 hours.
• Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida – No warning has been issued in the forecast or nowcast.
• Bengaluru – No warning has been issued in the forecast, while nowcast updates are awaited.
• Hyderabad – A yellow alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and strong surface wind has been issued in the forecast. No warning has been issued in the nowcast.
• Chennai- No warning has been issued in the forecast, while a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall is active till 0700 hours as per nowcast.
• Kolkata – No warning has been issued in the forecast or nowcast.
• Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar: A yellow alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds has been issued in the forecast for Ahmedabad, while Gandhinagar remains under a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds. No warnings have been issued in the nowcast for both cities.
