As per reports, air traffic disruption at Boston Logan International Airport on Thursday (25 September). Average flight delays exceeded three hours before the ground stop. The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) ground stop was issued from 1320 hours local time (1720 hours UTC) to 1445 hours local time (1845 hours UTC).

Runway 9-27 is expected to be closed until mid-November for FAA-required runway safety work. These events reduced airport capacity and led to widespread delays:

• Thunderstorms and heavy rainfall caused low cloud ceilings and localized flooding in southeastern Massachusetts, further compounding delays.
• A major runway has been closed for 100 days to complete safety upgrades, and it is not yet finished, contributing to reduced capacity.
