As per reports, Deutsche Bahn commenced construction on the railway line between Berlin and Bitterfeld from Wednesday (24 September), scheduled to continue until 13 December.

• No trains are scheduled to operate between Berlin-Südkreuz and Bitterfeld during the closure, affecting long-distance Intercity Express (ICE) services, including connections to Munich.
• Trains between Leipzig or Halle (Saale) and Berlin are scheduled to face extended travel times of 45 to 60 minutes due to diversions.
• Direct ICE connections from Frankfurt via Erfurt to Berlin are cancelled during the construction period, though Frankfurt via Kassel services remain operational.
• Berlin-Südkreuz station is not serving long-distance trains during the closure, with some services redirected via Berlin-Ostkreuz.
• Local transport in Berlin, particularly the light rail network, is expected to experience outages and partial service adjustments.
• Regional services in Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt may face line closures, diversions, or replacements with buses.
