As per reports on Friday (05 September), the Taal Volcano in Batangas continues to exhibit seismic activity, with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reporting a series of volcanic earthquakes and tremors over the past 24 hours.
• In its Friday morning bulletin, Phivolcs recorded 38 volcanic earthquakes along with 12 volcanic tremors that lasted between 2 and 14 minutes.
• Notably, the sustained tremor activity that began on August 27 has now ceased. However, on Thursday alone, 24 volcanic tremors were logged.
• Despite the uptick in seismic events, Taal remains under Alert Level 1, signifying low-level unrest. The agency emphasized that this alert status does not mean the volcano has returned to a normal state or that the potential for eruption has been eliminated.
