As per reports, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allied parties such as the Janata Dal United (JDU), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJPRV) and others have called for a ‘Bihar Bandh’ (statewide shutdown) on Thursday (04 September). Following are the details:

• The alliance, known as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has called for a five-hour bandh to protest against the objectionable comments allegedly made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother by Congress workers during last week’s Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga.
• The bandh will take place from 0700-1200 hours. Emergency services and essential goods will be exempted from the bandh. The NDA has also stated that railway operations will be exempt, and assured that the bandh will be conducted peacefully.
• The BJP’s ‘Mahila Morcha’ (women’s wing) is expected to lead demonstrations. However, further information about protest locations is awaited.
