The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts in the following metro cities, as of Tuesday (26 August):
• Mumbai and Pune – No warning has been issued in the forecast. However, Pune is under a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall till 0700 hours, as per nowcast.
• Delhi and Gurugram – No warnings as per the forecast for Delhi, a yellow alert for heavy rainfall for Gurugram. However, a yellow alert for light rainfall is in effect for Gurugram, valid until 0534 hours. Meanwhile, Delhi is under an orange alert for moderate rainfall, which is effective until 0530 hours according to the latest nowcast.
• Noida – No warnings as per forecast. However, a yellow alert for light rainfall is in effect, valid until 0530 hours.
• Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar – A yellow alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds has been issued in the forecast. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for light rainfall is active for both cities, which is valid till 0700 hours, as per nowcast.
• Hyderabad – A yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds has been issued as per the forecast. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for light rainfall is active, valid up to 0700 hours.
• Chennai – A yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds has been issued as per the forecast. No warnings as per nowcast.
• Bengaluru – A yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, squall, and strong surface winds has been issued in the forecast. No warnings have been issued in the nowcast.
• Kolkata – A yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, squall, and strong surface winds has been issued in the forecast. No warnings have been issued in the nowcast.
