The Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police Services has issued a caution against potential disruptions in the Jakarta and West Java area, due to the following planned protests/rallies, as of Wednesday (20 August):
• 0900 WIB: PT Pertamina Office, Jl. Merdeka Timur, Central Jakarta. Approximately 50 members of the Central Jakarta Students Alliance (Aliansi BEM Jakarta Pusat) will stage a protest demanding bureaucratic reform at PT Pertamina and to remind the public of Pertamina’s “red report card” related to corruption scandals.
• 1000 WIB: In front of the Tangerang District Court, Jl. TMP Taruna, Tangerang City. Approximately 200 members of the Solidarity of Democratic Students (Solidaritas Mahasiswa Demokrasi/SOMASI)/ People’s Lawsuit Alliance will stage a protest demanding the acquittal of defendant Charlie Chandra from all charges.
• 1000 WIB: In front of Bank Indonesia (Jl. MH. Thamrin, Central Jakarta) & OJK RI (Jl. Lap. Banteng Timur, Central Jakarta). Approximately 30 members of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Universitas Indraprasta PGRI will stage a protest demanding the investigation and dismissal of the Governor of Bank Indonesia over alleged gratification related to CSR funds.
• 1300 WIB: In front of PT Pertamina Office, Jl. Merdeka Timur, Central Jakarta. Approximately 30 members of the National Solidarity Movement Against Exploitation will stage a protest demanding the termination of the Geothermal Energy project, which is allegedly causing environmental damage and pollution by PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy.
