The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a bulletin at 0500 hours informing of a low-pressure area located east-northeast of Batanes that developed into Tropical Depression Huaning at 0200 hours on Monday (18 August).
• As per the forecast, Huaning is not expected to directly affect the Philippines within the next 48 hours.
• No direct impact is anticipated over land from severe winds at this time.
• Track and Intensity Outlook: Huaning is forecast to move generally northward until tonight, before turning north-northeastward by early tomorrow morning towards the Ryukyu Islands, Japan. The system is likely to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between late evening today and Tuesday (19 August) morning. Huaning is expected to remain a tropical depression throughout the forecast period.
• Hazards Affecting Coastal Waters: Moderate seas, with wave heights of up to 2.0 meters, are expected over the following coastal areas: Seaboards of Batanes.Northern and western seaboards of the Babuyan Islands.Northwestern and western seaboards of Ilocos Norte.Western seaboards of Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Lubang Island, and Palawan.
