As per reports, a bomb threat was reported at the Shinsegae Department Store in Myeongdong, Seoul, on Tuesday (05 August), prompting a response from the police force.
At around 1230 hours on Tuesday (05 August), an anonymous online post claimed that explosives had been planted on the store’s first floor and were set to detonate at around 1500 hours on Tuesday (05 August).
• In response the Seoul police evacuated all shoppers and staff from the building and established a safety perimeter to control access and manage traffic.
• Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and bomb disposal teams were deployed to conduct a thorough search for any explosive devices; however, no explosives were found.
• The areas have been cordoned off for further investigation and to identify the source of the threat.
