The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts in some Indian metro cities, as of Tuesday (05 August). The warnings are as follows:
• Mumbai and Pune – No warning in forecast or nowcast.
• Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar – No warning in the forecast. As per the nowcast, valid until 0700 hours, a yellow alert for light rainfall (less than 5 mm/h) is activated for Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
• Delhi – No warning in the forecast or nowcast.
• Gurugram – An orange alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls has been issued in the forecast. No warning issued in nowcast valid till 0536 hours.
• Noida – A yellow alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorm, lightning, and squall is issued in the forecast. No warning issued in nowcast valid till 0600 hours.
• Hyderabad -A yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, and squall is issued in the forecast. No warning issued in nowcast valid till 0700 hours.
• Chennai – A yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, and squall is issued in the forecast. As per the nowcast, valid until 0400 hours, an orange alert for moderate rainfall (between 5-15 mm/h) with maximum surface wind speed less than 61 km/h is active for Chennai.
• Bengaluru – A yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, and squall is issued in the forecast. As per the nowcast, valid until 0700 hours, a yellow alert of light rainfall (less than 5 mm/h) is activated for Bengaluru.
• Kolkata – No warning issued in the forecast. As per the nowcast, valid until 0600 hours, a yellow alert for light rainfall, thunderstorm, lightning, and squall is active for Kokata.
