As per reports, on Thursday (11 July), the US administration announced an escalation of tariffs on various Canadian imports with effect from 01 August.

• The new tariffs include a 35 percent levy on general imports, a 50 percent tariff on copper shipments, 50 percent tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, and 25 tariffs on auto imports.
• Levies on the Canadian energy sector stand at 10 percent.
• The US President has warned of further tariff escalation if Canada decides to impose retaliatory tariffs.
