The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts in some Indian metro cities as of Monday (16 June). The warnings are as follows:
• For Monday (16 June):
– Yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning and squall has been issued for Delhi, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
– Yellow alert for strong surface winds has been issued in Bengaluru (urban and rural).
– Yellow alert for heavy rainfall at few places has been issued for Mumbai; moderate rainfall (with no alert) is forecast for Pune while orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places has been issued for hilly terrains of Pune.
– Orange alerts for very heavy rainfall and strong surface winds have been issued for Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram.
– Orange alert for thunderstorm, lightning, squall and strong surface winds have been issued in Gurugram,
• For Tuesday (17 June):
– Yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, squall and strong surface winds have been issued in Delhi, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), Gurugram, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
– Yellow alert for strong surface winds has been issued in Bengaluru (urban and rural).
– Moderate rainfall (with no alert) is forecast for Mumbai; light to moderate rainfall (with no alert) is forecast for Pune while yellow alert for heavy rainfall at isolated places has been issued for hilly terrains of Pune.
– Orange alert for very heavy rainfall and strong surface winds has been issued for Ernakulam while yellow alert for heavy rainfall and strong surface winds has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram.
