As per reports, a helicopter crashed near the Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand on Sunday (15 June), leaving all its seven passengers dead. Following are the details:
• The helicopter took off from Kedarnath at approximately 0530 hours, bound for Guptkashi, but crashed shortly after take-off in the area between Gaurikund and Trijuginarayan in Kedarghati.
• Authorities swiftly dispatched the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams. However, the helicopter caught fire after the crash, due to which the passengers were purportedly killed before rescue teams could reach them.
• Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken cognizance of the incident.
• Authorities have indicated that the crash occurred due to inclement weather conditions and poor visibility. However, a confirmation of the same is awaited.
