According to reports, a group of environmental activists and indigenous Papuans staged a protest outside the DEO Sorong Airport on Saturday (07 June). The protest was staged against the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, and his government’s policy for nickel mining in the Raja Ampat Region.

The protestors had demanded transparency, accountability, and protection of indigenous peoples’ rights in the Raja Ampat Region.
