As per reports, West Bengal reported its first COVID-19 death of 2025 on Tuesday (03 June), involving a 43-year-old woman from Alipore with multiple comorbidities. The state recorded 41 new cases as of Tuesday (03 June), bringing the active caseload to 372.

In Malda, West Bengal, nine new COVID-19 cases were reported over the past week, contributing to the state’s rising case numbers. The surge is linked to the highly transmissible JN.1 variant, and local health workers are conducting active surveillance and isolation of symptomatic individuals. Furthermore, authorities have increased precautionary measures, including public advisories and the readiness of isolation wards.
