As per reports, on Monday (02 June), supporters of former Bolivian President Evo Morales intensified protests with 13 road blockades across the country.
• The demonstrations primarily took place in Cochabamba, and disrupted key transportation routes connecting Santa Cruz and La Paz.
• Protesters aim to pressure electoral authorities to validate Evo Morales’ candidacy for the 17 August general elections, despite a Constitutional Court ruling that limits a president to a single re-election.
• The government, led by President Luis Arce Catacora, condemned the protests as an unconstitutional attempt to force Evo Morales’ fourth presidential bid.
• Over 800 fuel tankers were stranded due to the blockades, worsening existing shortages of fuel and dollars in the country.
