As per reports, the North Goa District Collector has invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on Monday (02 June), imposing restrictions on public gatherings in the vicinity of Junta House, Panaji—home to the Transport Department office.
This action follows announcements by taxi associations to stage demonstrations over ongoing disputes related to licensing, app-based aggregator services, and fare regulations. Authorities have stated that any violation of the prohibitory order will be treated as a punishable offense.
• The taxi associations had scheduled their protest for Monday (02 June), aiming to gather around 2,000 taxi drivers and owners at approximately 1400 hours outside Junta House in Panaji, Goa.
