As per reports, the Mumbai Police issued a preventive prohibitory order on Thursday (15 May), restricting the assembly of five or more persons, any form of procession, and the use of loudspeakers, musical bands, amplifying instruments, or bursting of crackers in any procession. These restrictions will remain in effect from 0001 hours on Saturday (17 May) until 0000 hours on Saturday (31 May), and apply across the entire Brihanmumbai area.

The details are as follows:

• The prohibitory order was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) and is preventive in nature, aimed at maintaining law and order.
• A ban on flying drones, aerial devices, and firecrackers is already in place across Mumbai.
• The order cites intelligence inputs suggesting a likelihood of breach of peace, danger to human life, and possible loss of property.
• The order aims to prevent any form of riot or affray by curbing unlawful assembly across areas under the jurisdiction of the Commissioner of Police, Brihanmumbai.
