As per reports, a bank officer was arrested by the Karnataka police in Davangere for stealing gold ornaments valued at approximately INR two crore from the bank where he worked as a gold loan officer. The police recovered three kilograms and 643 grams of gold ornaments stolen from the bank.

The police have reported that the accused mortgaged the stolen gold in nationalised banks and private finance under his parents name as well as his own and took loans worth crores of rupees.

• Authorities discovered the theft after the bank officials conducted an audit of the gold ornaments and loan accounts in April, subsequently the officials reported the incident to KTJ Nagar police station.
