As per reports, a yellow weather warning has been issued by the UK Met Office for thunderstorms on Monday (12 May) from 1200 hours to 2200 hours (local time), across parts of England and Wales, including Wales, the Midlands, West of England, London and the South East.
• Rainfall is expected to develop from the south in the early hours of Monday (12 May), accompanied by mild temperatures ranging 17 to 20 degrees Celsius. While many regions have experienced prolonged dry conditions, including Preston in Lancashire and parts of Fife, the sudden influx of heavy rainfall increases the likelihood of localized flooding due to parched, less-absorbent ground.
• The Met Office and weather experts have reported that hail, thunder, lightning, and gusty winds may accompany the storms.
• Areas already experiencing rainfall such as Reading and Bristol may be early indicators of the developing storm system.
