As per reports, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in Salvador, the capital of Bahia, as well as in 79 other cities across the state’s interior. The alert is in effect until 2359 hours (local time) on Wednesday (23 April) and warns of increased rainfall and strong winds, posing a heightened risk of flooding, landslides, and river overflows.

Municipalities in the North-Central Bahia, Northeast Bahia, South-Central Bahia, Metropolitan Salvador and South Bahia will be affected.
