First human case of Myiasis confirmed in Mexico

As per reports on Saturday (19 April), Mexico’s Health Ministry has confirmed the country’s first human case of myiasis caused by the New World screwworm (Cochliomyia hominivorax). The case involves a 77-year-old woman from Acacoyagua, Chiapas, who is currently in stable condition and receiving antibiotic treatment.
