As per reports, from Monday (07 April), the Madrid City Council will implement a complete closure of the underpass linking Seseña Street with the Boadilla del Monte road. This action is part of the A-5 highway burying initiative under the Campamento plan.
• The northbound exit from the A-5 toward Boadilla del Monte will remain operational. A new left-turn option from this exit onto Carabias Street will be introduced to maintain access for Campamento neighborhood residents.
• Concurrently with the underpass closure, work will commence on a bypass to facilitate traffic diversion during the demolition phase, which is scheduled to begin in mid-May. The traffic re-routing toward the northbound A-5 carriageway, initiated in February, will continue through the end of the year.
• Line 65 of EMT Madrid, which previously used the underpass, will have its route toward Madrid adjusted. New stops will be added on the Boadilla road and in Aluche to maintain service coverage, particularly in Campamento.
• The project aims to transform the space occupied by the A-5 into the Southwest Green Promenade, enhancing connectivity among adjacent neighborhoods. It will include a two-span tunnel with three lanes in each direction and dedicated bus/HOV lanes, reducing surface traffic and emissions by 90 percent, and providing improved pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure.
