As per reports, travellers from the European Union (EU) must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before entering the UK as of Wednesday (02 April).
• This new requirement is part of the UK government’s plan to digitize border control and enhance security measures.
• The ETA must be applied for online through the official UK government website or the UK ETA mobile application.
• The permit currently costs GBP 10 (EUR 12), but the price will increase to GBP 16 (EUR 19) on 09 April.
• Once issued, the ETA is valid for two years or until the expiration of the traveller’s passport, whichever comes first.
• Applicants are required to provide biographical and biometric data, including a passport photo and personal details, as well as answer questions about their immigration history and any criminal records.
