According to reports, unidentified miscreants hurled bombs and opened fire outside the residence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Member of Parliament (MP) Arjun Singh in Bhatpara, police stated on Thursday (27 March).

Arjun Singh alleged that around 50-60 people attacked his house in North 24 Parganas district on Wednesday night (26 March). He also stated that two bombs were thrown at his house.

• The incident occurred at 2220 hours on Wednesday (26 March) and security forces were later deployed at his house.
• Police recovered several empty cartridges and live bombs from the scene. During the chase that followed the attack, one of the attackers fell into a drain and was injured. He was first taken to Bhatpara State General Hospital but was later transferred to a Kolkata hospital as his condition worsened.
