Train services disrupted in Ooty on Wednesday (12 March) amidst landslides

As per reports, continuous heavy rains in the Nilgiris district on Wednesday (12 March) led to a giant rockfall on the mountain railway track near Hillgrove Railway Station, damaging the track and disrupting train services.

The Mettupalayam-Ooty mountain train, which departed at 0710 hours on Wednesday (12 March) with 184 passengers, was stopped near Kallar Railway Station and forced to return to Mettupalayam. Railway authorities have suspended operations on the affected route while assessing the damage and clearing the debris.
