As per reports, heavy traffic jams have been recorded on highways between Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Thuan on Thursday (30 January). Reports suggest that the increased vehicular traffic is due to the festive holidays of Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year celebration.

• Congestion observed on two highways in particular: Phan Thiet – Dau Giay and Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay. A bottleneck of nearly 3 kilometers (kms) was recorded.
• The highway towards Binh Thuan forced ambulances to move into the emergency lane.
• Heavy traffic was observed on routes including from Dong Nai to Binh Thuan.
• To reduce traffic jams, traffic police forces are on duty at the intersection area between Long Thanh – Dau Giay and Phan Thiet – Dau Giay highways, implementing rotational closing and closing regulation towards Binh Thuan.
