As per reports, at approximately 1030 hours (local time) on Tuesday (07 January), a threat was made against the New Westminster courthouse. As a precautionary measure, police evacuated the courthouse, Douglas College campus, and nearby homes and businesses.

• A perimeter was established from Royal Avenue South to Carnarvon Street, between 8th Street and 6th Street, as police investigated the threat. The New Westminster Law Courts, including the Supreme Court registry, is closed for the remainder of the day on Tuesday (07 January).
• Douglas College suspended all in-person classes, events, and activities, with operations resuming at 1500 hours (local time) on Tuesday (07 January) when police cleared the area. Both the New Westminster Campus and Carnarvon parkades were reopened. The threat prompted police coordination with the British Columbia Sheriff Service, British Columbia Transit Police, emergency response officers, police dogs, New West firefighters, and British Columbia ambulance paramedics at the scene. In addition, road closures were enacted around the courthouse, affecting 6th Street to Begbie Street and Carnarvon to Agnes Streets.
