As per reports, on Monday 23 (December) the Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) canceled eight planned industrial actions, ensuring smooth rail operations in Sydney during New Year’s Eve.
Earlier, there were concerns over the industrial action affecting the fireworks programme on New Year’s Eve, however, NSW RTBU branch secretary Toby Warnes also stated that fireworks are assumed to be conducted as scheduled, since the plan for the industrial action on the day has been withdrawn. Additionally, the union has also agreed to drop a solidarity action and one other by the Electrical Trades Union to ensure public safety over the holidays.
