As per reports, the police in Ekiti have announced a ban on illegal gatherings and protests in the state as of Friday (06 December). The ban comes a few days ahead of the planned protest, on Tuesday (10 December), by activists to demand the release of human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi who is being tried by the police at an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court.

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 general election, Omoyele Sowore, has called for protests in Lagos, Abuja and Ado Ekiti on Tuesday (10 December), the same day the court slated for the hearing of bail application filed by Dele Farotimi’s legal team.
