As per reports, an explosion on Friday evening (29 November) damaged a canal in northern Kosovo, that supplies water to two coal-fired power plants which in-turn generate nearly all of the country’s electricity.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has named it a “terrorist attack” and alleged the involvement of Serbia in it.

• Reports suggest water leaking heavily from one side of the reinforced canal, which runs from the Serb-majority north of Kosovo to the capital Pristina and supplies drinking water.
• Electricity supply has been affected and outages may continue through morning hours of Saturday (30 November).
• The US has strongly condemned the “attack on critical infrastructure in Kosovo”.
