Update on Kolkata rape-murder case – Friday (11 October)

As per reports, the following updates are available on the Kolkata rape-murder case as of Friday (11 October):

• The indefinite fast by two junior doctors at the North Bengal Medical College & Hospital (NBMCH) here entered the fourth day on Thursday (10 October) even as their health conditions deteriorated.
• Forty doctors of state-run SSKM Hospital in Kolkata resigned en masse on Thursday (11 October) to show solidarity with the medics who have been on hunger strike to press for their demands since 05 October.
• Protests by the junior doctors continued on the streets of Kolkata on Thursday (10 October) with people protesting against the rape and murder of a doctor at R.G. Kar Hospital.
• Raising slogans and posters demanding justice, a group of people tried to enter a Durga puja pandal in the College Square area in Kolkata. Hundreds of people raising slogans and posters marched across College Street and Ganesh Chandra Avenue entering Durga puja pandals. The police tried to stop the protesters by putting up barricades which were breached by them.
