As per reports, authorities have closed the motorway from Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore to Islamabad with containers for security purposes ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led protest at Minar-i-Pakistan on Saturday (05 October). Containers have been deployed at Babu Sabu Interchange, and Lahore-Sialkot Motorway as well.
The Punjab government has already imposed Section 144 in Lahore [effective until Tuesday (08 October)], Mianwali [effective until Monday (07 October)], Rawalpindi, Sargodha, and Attock [effective until Sunday (06 October)] banning all kinds of political assemblies, gatherings, rallies, and protests.
• Pillion riding has also been banned in Rawalpindi and Attock until Saturday (05 October).
• The government has called nine companies of paramilitary Rangers in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Attock to perform duty on Saturday (05 October).
• All police stations in Lahore have been put on high alert and instructed to patrol and arrest those found violating the ban on gatherings.
• The Metro bus services linking the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are suspended until further notice.
