As per reports, the following are the latest updates on the Maratha reservation agitation as of Tuesday (01 October).
• Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange has appealed to the public to come together in a show of unity at the Dussehra rally scheduled for 12 October in Narayangad, located in Maharashtra’s Beed district.
• Jarange-Patil, currently undergoing treatment in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after concluding a hunger strike, aims to unite the Maratha community and farmers at this event.
• He emphasized that the rally will be a platform for expressing community solidarity, free from political influence.
• Jarange encourages participation from across the state, inviting individuals from Beed, Marathwada, and those working out of town to join the rally
• The rally comes after the Maharashtra legislature passed a bill earlier this year that provides a separate 10 percent reservation for Marathas in education and government jobs. However, Jarange continues to push for the community’s classification under the OBC quota, emphasizing the need for solidarity among the Maratha community during this crucial time.
