As per reports, around 1400 people were temporarily evacuated in Naha City of Okinawa Prefecture ahead of a large-scale operation to dispose of an unexploded 250-kilogram bomb from World War Two on Sunday (29 September). The evacuation zone was a residential area one kilometre northwest of Shuri Castle, and had a 283-metre radius and traffic was restricted for around two hours.

The disposal operation took place at around 1045 hours (local time), and was completed at around 1155 hours, lifting the evacuation and traffic restriciton orders. Around 470 households and 80 businesses, including schools, and two large hotels with over 300 guests were made to evacuate ahead of time.
