As per reports, following a meeting on Monday (23 September), the Inspector General of Police announced that a three-tier security system would be implemented and instructed all police officials to ensure heightened security during Durga Puja, one of the largest and most widely celebrated Hindu festivals in Bangladesh.
• The IGP requested leaders of the Puja celebration committees to promptly contact the national emergency service number 999 or the nearest police station in case of any emergency situations.
• He also urged leaders of the Puja Udjapan Parishad to ensure that CCTV or IP cameras remain operational throughout the events and to maintain 24/7 security at each mandap (altar/pavilion) by deploying volunteers alongside law enforcement personnel.
