The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has forecast severe convective weather conditions in parts of China, on Wednesday (07 August).
As of 0600 hours on Wednesday (07 August), the CMA continued to issue a yellow warning for heavy rainfall and a blue warning for severe convective weather in areas including parts of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Gansu.
• China’s Ministry of Water Resources and the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) had issued red and orange alerts for mountain torrents on Tuesday (06 August) night.
• Red alert was issued from 2000 hours on Tuesday (06 August) to the same time Wednesday (07 August), due to high probability of mountain torrents in parts of Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. An orange alert for mountain torrents was also issued in parts of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Gansu.
• From 0500 to 0800 hours on Wednesday (07 August), short-term heavy rainfall occurred in parts of eastern Heilongjiang, eastern Gansu, central and northern Shaanxi, southwestern Shanxi, western Sichuan Basin, northern and southwestern Yunnan, with hourly rainfall of 20-40 mm, and more than 50 mm in some local areas.
• Short-term heavy rainfall, with hourly rainfall of 20-50 mm, and in some areas even more than 80 mm is forecast from 1400 hours on Wednesday (07 August) to 0800 hours on Thursday (08 August) in parts of northeastern Inner Mongolia, central and western Heilongjiang, central and western Jilin, eastern Qinghai, central, eastern and southern Gansu, central and southern Ningxia, central Shaanxi, southern Shanxi, central and southern Shandong, central, northern and eastern Henan, northern Anhui, northern Jiangsu, southeastern and western Fujian, northwestern and southeastern Sichuan Basin, western and southern Yunnan.
