Inclement weather conditions expected in KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape on Monday (08 July)

As per reports, the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) and South Africa Weather Service have issued several warnings for inclement weather conditions on Monday (08 July).

• The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs have placed the province of KwaZulu-Natal on high alert following a warning of severe winds on Monday (08 July). Such weather prediction is expected to create ideal conditions for runaway fires.
• Severe winds are expected in the districts of uMgungundlovu, Ugu, uThukela, Amajuba, Zululand, King Cetshwayo, and iLembe. Wind speeds are anticipated to reach up to 70 km/h and with gusts exceeding 80 km/h.
• Additionally, the South Africa Weather Service has issued an orange level five warning for disruptive snowfall in the province of Eastern Cape from Monday (08 July) until 0000 hours local time on Thursday (11 July). Snow accumulation of 16 cm is expected over the southern Drakensberg area.
