As per reports, China’s State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters activated a level four emergency response to flooding in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. Level three emergency response is maintained in the provinces of Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi and Hunan. Tributaries of Wusuli River and Songhua River reported floods above the safety guarantee level, following sustained rainfall.

Heavy rainfall is forecast for the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with parts of Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui and Zhejiang in the next three days. The headquarters and the Ministry of Emergency Management have deployed flood-relief countermeasures along with multiple departments. Five work teams have been dispatched to Jiangxi, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan and Zhejiang will continue their work there.

• Heavy rainfall impacted a large portion in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China on Tuesday (25 June), with floods occurring in several rivers.
• China’s National Meteorological Center renewed a red alert for heavy rainfall on Tuesday (25 June). Parts of Jiangsu, Anhui, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan and Guangxi are forecast to receive heavy rainfall till 1400 hours on Wednesday (26 June), with some areas expected to experience maximum hourly precipitation of over 70 mm, accompanied by thunderstorms and gales.
• Following days of sustained heavy rainfall, the cumulative rainfall in parts of Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, and Hunan since 17 June has reached 250 mm to 550 mm. Some areas in Hunan, Anhui and Zhejiang recorded strong rainfall of 600 mm to 758 mm.
• The death toll has risen to five after torrential rainfall triggered mountain torrents in a county in central China’s Hunan Province on Tuesday (25 June).
