According to reports, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated that several areas in the Philippines may experience high heat index levels on Friday (14 June) reaching the “danger” level.
In its 1700 hours heat index forecast on Thursday (13 June), PAGASA listed the following areas with heat indexes ranging from 42 degrees Celsius to 47 degrees Celsius:
• 47 degrees Celsius: Tuguegarao, Cagayan
• 46 degrees Celsius: – Dagupan City, Pangasinan- Aparri, Cagayan- Catarman, Northern Samar
• 45 degrees Celsius: – NVSU Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya- ISU Echague, Isabela- Baler (Radar), Aurora- Casiguran, Aurora- Virac (Synop), Catanduanes- Masbate City, Masbate- Roxas City, Capiz
• 44 degrees Celsius: – Laoag City, Ilocos Sur- Bacnotan, La Union- Daet, Camarines Norte- Guiuan, Eastern Samar- Maasin, Southern Leyte
• 43 degrees Celsius: – Sinait, Ilocos Sur- MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte- Calayan, Cagayan- Basco (Radar), Batanes- Alabat, Quezon- Calapan, Oriental Mindoro- Legazpi City, Albay- Borongan, Eastern Samar
• 42 degrees Celsius:- NAIA, Pasay City- CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija- Sangley Point, Cavite- Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas- Mulanay, Quezon- Cuyo, Palawan- Juban, Sorsogon- Mambusao, Capiz- Iloilo City, Iloilo- Siquijor, Siquijor- Catbalogan, Samar- Tacloban, Leyte
• Meanwhile, Baguio City in Benguet is forecasted to have the lowest heat index at 25 degrees Celsius.
