As per reports, the National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM) has issued ‘Alert 2’ for the expected weather conditions tomorrow, Monday (15 April) across several governorates in Oman.
Affected governorates include North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, Muscat, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, parts of North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Musandam, and Al Wusta.
• Potential impacts of the weather conditions include heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, hailstorms, and active winds. Rainfall amounts are expected to range from 30 to 120 millimeters, with wind speeds reaching 15 to 45 knots (28-83 km/h). Additionally, sea wave heights may reach two to three meters.
• The Ministry of Education announced that all public, private, and international schools across the governorates of Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, and South Al Batinah will be closed on Monday (15 April), due to unstable weather conditions. Schools will reopen on Tuesday (16 April).
• Oman Meteorology has issued a weather advisory warning of continued heavy rainfall and the possibility of hailstones across the aforementioned governorates including the Dhofar Governorate from Sunday (14 April) to Wednesday (17 April).
