As per reports, in view of the “Delhi Chalo” march of farmer organisations on Tuesday (13 February), section 144 of CrPC has been imposed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Joy Tirkey in the northeast district of Delhi. This also bans the gathering of public at all borders between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and nearby areas, prohibiting the entering of vehicles carrying protestors from Uttar Pradesh.

The official order is awaited.

• Security near the Tikri border has been tightened.
• Cranes have been deployed to move barriers if farmers attempt to cross the barricades towards Delhi.
• Practice drills are underway, including the firing of tear gas shells.
• 20,000 farmers with 2,000 tractors are expected to head towards Delhi.
• Delhi Police has reportedly received information regarding farmers entering Delhi before the scheduled protest and gather outside the residences of VVIPs such as the Prime Minister and other senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.
• At least 50 paramilitary companies have been called for support.
