• The editor of Hueiyen Lanpao, a prominent vernacular newspaper in Manipur, was apprehended by Imphal Police on Friday (05 January). The cause of the detention has not been disclosed yet.
• As per reports on Friday (05 January), four abandoned houses were gutted in a fire at New Lambulane locality. At least three fire tenders were dispatched to douse the fire, which started around 2100 hours on Thursday (04 January).
