As per reports, Islamic State on Thursday (04 January), claimed responsibility on its Telegram platform for two explosions around Garden of Martyrs cemetery, Kerman, Iran on Wednesday (03 January) which killed at least 84 people and wounded around 284. The group stated that the attack was carried out by two suicide bombers.
Iran also announced it is tightening security along its borders with Afghanistan and Pakistan, as the focus of the attack shifted towards Islamic State.
